The 49er Series pays tribute to an original 1868 "Hot Blast" oil lantern that was used by miners, ranchers and farmers of the old west. Every Sutter's Mill Lantern is handmade at in their factory in Orange, CA and every lantern is UL approved for one 60 watt incandescent lamp.

When this historical western lantern was originally used, barn wood was simply called “wood”. Back then, creating a lantern shelf was as simple as nailing together some scraps of wood. From our 49er Series, this rustic lantern recreates that old fashioned lifestyle, a period of time when “Made in America” was a fact of life not just a label on a box. This western lantern is 100% handmade at our factory in Orange, CA and is designed to mount directly to a standard electrical box. It’s UL approved and wired for an old fashioned 60 watt incandescent lamp. You can also use the newest LED and compact fluorescent lamps.
